For this project I decided to create a volleyball because since I am the Equipment Manager for the volleyball team, I thought it would be very fitting that I used a volleyball for my logo since that is what I’m dealing with on a daily basis. The “research” I did was just look at the thing I look at every day and then I figured it was a good thing to use since it’s the main piece of equipment that I deal with. My design process was very difficult because it just did not look how I expected it to, I used the pen tool to draw the lines of the ball and the ellipse tool to make my circle, but to fill in the volleyball I ended up using the paint tool which I don’t really like how it came out so I’m going to keep playing around with it to see if I can find something better (if anyone has any suggestions let me know).
I sketched my logo out on Notability cause I could use my stylus to draw it how I wanted with the color scheme I wanted so it was easier to fix and see how it could really look.
I wanted my project to be about my everyday life and what I do in the day of the life of an Equipment Manager for the women’s volleyball team. I was inspired to do this by other bloggers that I have seen, I don’t follow a particular blogger but I have seen many different styles that I have liked. I used Photoshop to edit the photos so you could see better of what I’m doing in the harsh lights that are in the gym.
So typically I will go to the equipment room and grab the keys to open up the gym and I turn on all the lights so they are all warm and ready for practice. Then I will sweep the gym floor and start getting the poles and nets out to start setting up the nets so that when the girls come out the nets are all done and practice can start. I usually check about once a week to see if the volleyballs are pumped to the correct pressure they need to be at and if not I will pump them up to what they need to be at. I also make sure everything they will need for practice is readily available such as cones or dots if they need them.
During practice, I’m running around shagging balls to make sure none of them are getting in the way of the girls so they don’t step on anything. I also am running carts around so girls always have balls if they are serving or hitting and I make sure empty carts are where they need to be. I’m usually running around during practice with a towel to wipe up sweat on the floor. I’m running around in general to make sure everything is running smoothly and if anyone needs anything I will go to get it. Once practice is over, I start taking down the nets and putting everything back into the closet so it is organized and ready to go so I can do the whole process over again the next day. After I’m done cleaning up, I go to the equipment room and depending if we are in season and are going to travel I will pack bags for the trips with their uniforms and everything they need for games. For games on home weekends I’m getting uniforms together and doing whatever laundry that needs to get down. It can be stressful but I love it and it is great work experience for what I would like to do in the future. GO COUGS!!
I wanted my project to be about my everyday life and what I do in the day of the life of an Equipment Manager for the women’s volleyball team. I was inspired to do this by other bloggers that I have seen, I don’t follow a particular blogger but I have seen many different styles that I have liked from researching bloggers. I used Photoshop to edit the photos so you could see better of what I’m doing in the harsh lights that are in the gym.
I used photos that I had someone take of me to edit them where I used the text box to put text on the image so if you just saw the images you would know exactly what I was trying to do. I also used color balance to balance out some of the colors in the background to kind of tone down the bright lights in the back. I also used the brightness and contrasts so that everything really blended together and the image looked more clear of what I wanted it to.
I found it really difficult to decide what I wanted to do to make the images special which is why I put the text on them. This isn’t something that I wanted to have crazy photoshop with because it doesn’t fit who I am and what I want this to be about. The significance of these photos is to show what my life and see some insight into what I do everyday.
These are images that I took during practice today of what I typically do every day. As an equipment manager my job includes setting up nets, shagging balls, and taking down nets as some of the things that I will usually do in a day. I want to document what my life is like everyday cause this could be something that I want to do in the future.
