Draft Audio Story

For this project I decided to create an interview style type of audio. I wanted to interview someone on the team for their perspective with what I am doing everyday in the eyes on the team. The research I did was watching a lot of interviews on ESPN to see some audio to really see what interviews sounded like and try and get the best thing possible. Something that I would like to add for the final is possibly including some of the background noise of playing volleyball to be able to really hear and get a feel that you are actually there. My design process began with finding someone who would let me interview them and answer the question about me like with what I do and their perspective of the things I do. After I did that I decided to do some sort of introduction kind of to introduce myself and what I do and kind of describe in my own words the things I do in a quick and short type of version. Then after I did that I recorded a transition to that by explaining that I was going to be including someone on the teams experience and idea of what I actually do. I collected these elements by using voice memos on my phone to record because I found that that’s what gave the most clear and nice sounding audio. The process of using Adobe software was trying to cut out long pauses but including some of those to make it sound natural and not so cut so I used the different tools to make it seem like a seamless interview. I didn’t use any outside materials I just used audio that I had recorded because I felt that I didn’t need any extra outside music or something like that but like I said I might add some background noise of people playing in between to hear the experiences and background.

  1. I really like your draft audio story! I think that the idea that you went with is very unique and intriguing. Having you ask the girls what they think you do is a really cool perspective to look at. I love your introduction and how you gave the listeners background about what you do as a volleyball team manager. I think that it was perfect way to lead into your audio story because it explains what the reader is going to be listening to, but then it also gives them an idea about how the girls should be answering. If the girls answer wrong then that means they obviously are not paying attention to how important your job is! I also really like how you got multiple interviews and answers from players. Having more than one player interview was very beneficial to you and I think worked very well for your audio story. One thing that you could do to improve your final audio story is to add music in the background. There is free music on the course website that you could use to incorporate background music. Overall, I love it and I am excited to hear your final audio story!

  2. Alex- I am very interested in your audio story and feel that it is pretty similar to the one I have created. I like how you began the interview by introducing yourself and letting the audience know just what you do as the volleyball team manager. Your idea to have someone try and explain your role is very intriguing and I was curious to listen to the response. After reading your post I like your idea to potentially add background noises it will give the listener a feel as though they are at a match or practice. My other suggestion for you is to attempt to get the volleyball coach to voice her opinion on why they need you as a manager and how you help out the team. With or without that addition your story sounds great and I feel as though it will be very successful.
